Isnīt Spain known for its bullfights? I did not get out to see one. Did not make an effort. Came to the Internet room ahead of the crowd this morning, nice cool day to begin, cloudy off in the northeasterly direction. But what do I know? At least they are to the far left of the sun just now in the 2 of the clock direction. Not many students opt for the early classes, not in this building anyway. But then no one I passed so far seemed to be wide awake. Visitors at Hotel Alexandra were loading into taxis for their trip home. I also would be on my way out if it werenīt that my presentation is today. My session was incorrectly printed in the original book as occurring during lunch but that error was corrected in an addendum. Whether the change will be noted by enough folks to give the six of us an audience remains to be seen. If that change affected the other presenters and some do not show up, we will have more than the expected 13 minutes each. But that is for later. From yesterday I must explain a photo session where I made a series of statements before a Hassleblat camera for an upcoming exhibit by a member of womenbehindthecamera.com. Each participant had a 6 meter length of black gauze to wear in different poses. How does one feel covered? Gwen Curtis, the photographer, has been making historic statements for many years and suggested some poses for me, encouraging me to come up with my own. We did 12 shots that will be processed in black and white for the exhibition. It will be posted on cactus.ny.us. I spent several hours with my own camera - finally exhausting the second set of batteries. I really overestimated the need for batteries. From now on I will not be so stingy with the on button amd keep shooting often. I walk much more than anticipated. Makes for tired feet after 10 hours before getting back to Hotel Alexandra. Soak my feet in hot water in the badeu - thatīs not the correct spelling but it is the butt washer in the bathroom. Quite an invention. Bill and Nancy Lawrence in Culebra had one, however with their system of cisterns water was too pressious to waste on such frivolities as actually using the thing. Well I digress, but then this is a journal of sorts and catches odds and ends of memories. My speech is about the brain with its billions of neural pathways and the importance of keeping them active. As if I can stop mine! I shall be off to make that statement in a short while. Adios. |
