Difference

Of course, the plants will be different.
No palms in my city.

Although Richland, Washington, and Oxnard, California
are nearly in the same longitude, the latitude differs more than twelve degrees.
The temperature in Richland at this time rarely gets above 42 F.
Oxnard temperature did not get that low during my stay.

These palm trees are the same species but are much older than those in the backyard where I visit.
The variation in roughness of the trunks indicate the care of trimming as the trees grew.

The fronds wave at the slightest breeze.

I made a comparison of the height of this one in a parking lot to the size of one in my backyard.

When I got back far enough to take in the full height, a beautiful flower intruded in the view.

The name - Bird of Paradise - is as exotic as the blue and orange flower it displays.

Somehow evolving in Africa eons past, the Bird of Paradise
is transported to enhance any habitat in which it can survive.

January appears to be late for the best quality of bloom.
These are still quite lovely and proud in downtown parking lot.
