LEVITICUS 19:20-22 "And whosoever lieth carnally with a woman, bondmaid, betrothed to a husband, not redeemed, nor freed; she shall be scourged...and the sin which he hath done shall be forgiven." DEUTERONOMY 24:1 "When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favor in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her; then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house." EXODUS 22:18 "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." A handbook "Malleus Maleficarum" published in 1486, sanctified by Pope Innocent VII, stated: "All witchcraft comes from lust which in women is insatiable." Seven crimes listed are sex or reproduction related and the authors did not distinguish between ordinary women and witches. From the 1300s into the 1700s Europe was purged of "witches" a blatant effort to force obedience to the Catholic church. "A humane person reading these books for the first time, without any glamour of divine inspiration, would shudder at their cruelty and blush at their obscenity. Those who can make these foul facts illustrate beautiful symbols must have a genius of a high order." -- Elizabeth Cady Stanton Published by Freedom From Religion Foundation
