My father used to have an expression for the tiresome habit of people when they repeat something stupid over and over and OVER again. He would say "They're beating a dead horse."
If Dad was alive to see the way that Bruce Tinsley/Mallard Fillmore keeps trying to pretend that there isn't an active group of conservatives who would do (almost) anything to bring down our President, he very well might say "Tinsley is beating a dead horse."
Today's cartoon shows the -duck in a trenchcoat lurking outside a mobile home. The duck then comments that ...
There've always been conspiracy kooks who think everyone's plotting against them. But they aren't all alike.... ... Some have nicer hideouts.
That last comment is written with the Whitehouse as the backdrop. Indicating, I think, that Tinsley believes President and/or Mrs Clinton are "kooks" who think everyone is out to get them.
Tinsley/Mallard is DEAD-WRONG on BOTH counts.
First of all, NEITHER the President nor his wife are kooks. They are highly educated and experienced people. Secondly, (I'll go out on a limb here, and GUESS what they are thinking) the Clintons know that not everyone is out to get them. In fact, recent surveys continue to show that MOST Americans support their President and want him to keep up the good work. President Clinton's approval rating is sky-high, and stronger than it ever was for Reagan or Bush! (Way to go, Mr. President!!!)
But that doesn't mean that there aren't rabid Clinton-haters. There ARE, both individuals and groups. Bruce Tinsley and his fowl-alter-ego are among them.
Lucky for the country that every day, more and more people are realizing this. Some of it is obvious, like a special-prosecutor who is supposed to be investigating a failed land-investment, but instead has his mind on a certain young lady's panties (and RUMORS about who might have been into them).
Some of the hatred and loathing for this rightous President is less obvious to those who don't frequent Klan meetings or have Rush Limbaugh's phone number on speed-dial. But the Clinton-haters are present nonetheless. You don't have to look any farther than a "Mallard Fillmore" cartoon to find them!
