Whew! Tinsley finally had a new idea (I was starting to wonder if he ever would!). Today he stopped trying to convince us that the Republicans AREN'T working hard (and in concert) to embarrass and unseat President Clinton. Today the -duck is claiming that ever since "the whole Monica Lewinsky thing started" the "feminist spokespersons" have all had laryngitis. Then the -bird asserts "which of course, ain't all bad."
Again Tinsley is dead wrong (it would have been more surprising if he were RIGHT). Most organizations concerned about women's rights and the struggle for equality not only don't have laryngitis, they are very vocal and worried that this President might have taken advantage of a woman over whom he had power.
On television and in print, feminists have spoken loud and clear that sexual harassment is wrong even if it is the President who is doing it. The big difference is that unlike the people who are only interested in destroying President Clinton, these women (and men too!) are more interested in justice. Instead of convicting Mr. Clinton in the court of public opinion and executing him before the case can be heard, they are letting the system work. And in this case, the system's "grand-high Inquisitor" is already on the witch-hunt, er, I mean case.
That's right, Ken "Indict at any cost" Starr, the guy who couldn't link Socks to the missing Whitehouse mice, fumbled his land-deal investigation and started sniffing into Ms. Lewinsky's fantasy relationship.
Now, let me explain why I use the word "fantasy." Monica has already testified under oath that she didn't have an affair with the President. What she DID do was tell an amazing story to a woman who was trying to deceive her into thinking they were friends. Wouldn't it be a kick if it turned out Monica saw through Linda Tripp's ruse!!!! After all, Monica is young, but that doesn't make her stupid. For all we know, she suspected that Tripp was, like a serpent in the grass, lying in wait to destroy Monica for personal gain.
No, feminists have NOT been quieted by "the whole Monica Lewinsky thing." Mallard just doesn't hear them. He is blinded by his hatred for strong women. He wouldn't listen to them anyway.
