Another Great Debate

Time for me to weigh in on another timely topic: Is Tom Cruise correct in steering Brooke Shields away from anti-depressant medication or is Matt Later correct because he knows people who told him they have benefitted from use of Ritalin?

Tom’s argument is based on research of the history of psychiatry which he says proves psychiatry is pseudo-science and that medication only masks the problems. Matt’s argument is based on the fact that Tom is a Scientologist, and therefore is more interested in proselytizing than in promoting his movie.

Here’s my call. Tom is correct about psychiatry being pseudo-science and that medication only masks the problem, but sometimes masking is the best you can hope for. However, Matt knows a lot of people and certainly some of them could have told him that they benefitted from using Ritalin. However, Tom wins the debate because he is so much cooler and more articulate than Matt.

As for Brooke Shields’ depression? I just hope she reads this blog.
