Madness of King George

I don’t think George Bush will be able to hide his madness during the State of the Union tonight. When I saw John McCain on the Sunday morning talk shows, it was apparent that he knew things were going very wrong. Then there’s the fact that Bush the Elder has broken down in public tears twice in the last two months. Some speculate that he cried because Jeb Bush will never be President or that Iraq is going so badly that his son George is being blamed. I think he cried because he finally realized that his oldest son is mentally ill and out of control.

I’ve often wondered during President Bush’s speeches and public events if his doctors had coked him up to make him appear smarter and more congenial. If so, they forgot to do that when he gave his ‘troop surge’ speech. Since this is one public appearance that he can’t avoid they might be tempted to try it again, but one unfortunate effect of amphetamines is that it makes the user very upbeat and manic. If Bush can’t control his glee tonight, everyone will notice.

Will he risk it? Or will we see George’s unmedicated madness during the State of the Union?
