Alarming Start

I get a lot more sleep when I set an alarm. For one thing, I don't continually wake up to check what time it is. The other thing is, I often set it wrong. \

Like this morning. After eight full hours of sleep, I checked to make sure the alarm was set. The slashes in the upper left hand corner were on, so I snuggled back into my pillow for what I was sure just two or three more minutes of sweet darkness. Ten minutes later, I opened my eyes and held the clock in front of my face, double checked to see that it was on, twisted up and around to check the clock on the other side of the bed, then finally double checked to see what time I had it set for.

Eight o'clock PM! Who would ever need that much sleep? And if I needed that much sleep, why would I bother setting an alarm at all?

The best thing about setting an alarm is that rush of adrenaline that shoots me out of bed whether the alarm goes off or not.
