Now that I have my new couch and love seat, I'm itching to change out the art work on the walls. Although I hate to part with the Egyptian papyrus and the Le Mann photos, I have been looking at them for over twenty years, which means I don't really see them at all. I have a few constraints. No half-naked art noveau posters. Regardless of how beautiful they are, they will always embarrass guests of any age. And I really like art noveau posters. Likewise with Botticelli. Just too much skin to create ambiance for the casual conversation in my living room. I refuse to buy those pre-framed pictures from the home decorating aisle. Like the pre-chewed chicken at fast food restaurants, they just aren't to my taste. Until now needlework- or what the woman at the frame shop called 'crafts'- danced across my walls. Loved it- still want something different. I have one idea that I hope works out. When Jerry retired- actually everyone retired because the lab shut down- he acquired a stunning framed poster of the periodic table. I might do a whole math and science theme. That sounds like the kind of living room I would put together. |
