Wonder Where Winter Landed

It feels like winter forgot to stop by Bellingham this year. Sure we had a little snow in early December. The temperature dropped into the twenties for a day or two. The price of coffee went up. But the feeling of winter never really set in. I haven't even got my winter coat out yet.

Scientists predicted we would have warm, mild weather because of a current call El Nino that moves up the coast from the south Pacific ocean, bringing warm, wet weather with it. This is an El Nino year. The other ocean current, which brings cold, miserable winter weather, is called La Nina, but I don't know much about that. When the weather is nasty, I don't care why, I just want it to stop.

Today, and forecasted for the rest of the week, the temperature bumped up toward fifty degrees. I don't know what happened to winter, but I don't miss it.
