I complained too soon about February. This year it has been warm weather, blue skies, and early spring. I might even get the hoses out to water some of those thick-budded rhododendrons. Many neighbors mowed their lawns this weekend, but I prefer to wait until grass bolts to seed. Since the sky has been clear, I've been star gazing, which is a rare opportunity around here. Mars, which looks more yellow to me than red, is high on the eastern horizon. A little more to the southeast Lyra has been flashing red and green brightly enough that I can see the double star systems without the aid of binoculars. I can't find Venus, but then the moon has been out during the day, so maybe Venus is also. Nice weather and stars. Not bad for a small town like Bellingham. |
