Happy Birthday

July is a big month for birthdays in my family. Starting with Debbie on the 12th, Susie on the 17th, today, of course, which is Mike's birthday, and the 24th which is Ryanne's birthday.

Mike said he didn't have any special plans for his birthday. How different is that from almost-ten year old Ryanne who has been waiting for this since Christmas. Organized, I am happy to say, she wrote out her gift assignments last week. Mine was rocks.

I always get the good ones.

She's having her party at the Aquatic Center. Almost a perfect choice. Great ambiance and action, something for every guest to do, no tedious sitting and watching while the birthday girl opens her presents. The only draw back I can see is the combination of cake and chlorine. Oddly enough, the Aquatic Center does allow food amidst the pools.

As far as Ryanne is concerned, just the word 'cake' is enough to light up her face. I hope her mom skips the themed paper napkins, but I predict she won't, and that they will be vampires of the Twilight variety.

Birthday napkins are a funny thing. They are always printed with some kind of moisture repelling ink so they smear stuff around instead of absorbing anything. I wonder how they work in swimming pools?

Happy Birthday, Mike. I'm going out in the yard to work on Ryanne's birthday request. If you change your mind about presents, let me know. I have plenty.
