Sleepless in Bellingham

I know why I had trouble sleeping Sunday and Monday night- a case of nerves at having somebody cut into my house to install windows- but I did expect to sleep like a baby last night to make up for it. Didn't happen. I don't think I got four hours of sleep, so I decided I might as well get up and drink some coffee. At least now I'll know why I'm wide awake.

All the windows except one are in. It is so odd to live in a house without drafts. I won't need all those afghans in living room and rec room. Big change in my home décor. My extra-cozy fleece pants are simply too warm. Big change in my lounging wear. The heat is down an extra five degrees because without the draft, it feels warmer anyway. I'm confused.

I rushed in on painting the bedroom without doing any prep and now everything is upside down. I think I will take the time to take apart and move things that I should have before I started. I guess the exercise will be good for me. Ryanne will be here over the weekend so I have to get her room straightened up also. A large book shelf that was loaded with magazines and toys had to be moved for the window install, so of course that all got piled on the hide-a-bed where she sleeps. I have the same problem in other rooms of the house. I am tempted to pack it all in moving boxes and ship it away.

Ryanne apparently volunteered me to make a pumpkin pie for her class party on Friday. She warned me that no store-bought was acceptable. It is very cute to listen to a ten year give strict instructions. I make a crumby pie crust or should I say a non-crumby crust? The recipe uses vegetable oil instead of solid fat which makes it easy to roll out, but missing that basic flakiness. It should be perfect for serving in a classroom, and do kids eat crust anyway? I'll pretend they don't.

I wonder how much it would cost to have someone clean my house for me? Another thought to keep me awake.
