Ramblin' On

The November writing challenge has come to an end. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the challenge, it involves putting out a rough draft of a novel in one month. Rough draft is redundant in that sentence. I will be polishing it up for a while.

Which is to say, that I did come up with something usable this year.

But I am ready to turn my attention to other things. Like why I have so many boxes of hand made, unfinished Christmas ornaments. I won't bore myself by listing them, when the real issue is: did I ever really believe that hand painted, clay gingerbread men, paper snowflakes or tissue poinsettias would look snazzy and chic? Apparently so. And when did I ever think I would sew little elf outfits for those McToy dolls that I got at a yard sale for the purpose of hanging in the fire box of my fireplace? (You might recall that the fireplace is unusable due to the battle of the raccoons.) I don't know why I keep this stuff from year to year.

On the other hand, I can't throw it away because the garbage bin is filled with all the wind fall from my Doug fir. And there is always a chance that I will use some of the stuff to decorate the holiday party. That means both old home projects and Doug fir boughs.

But more than the December challenge of home decorating is the challenge of keeping all of you up to date on my daily musings. It's nice to be back.
